The new Google Maps are now open to everyone, no invite needed and they are a huge improvement. The the maps really are just beautiful to look at and all of the satellite images are much clearer and sharper than the old maps making exploring the places of interest even more pleasurable.

The maps feature full screen street views and uses Google’s cards style navigation on the left to show you places of interest around the area you are searching. There is a lot more content there to create a complete, immersive experience when you’re searching around and finding your way around a new place.

If you want to start using the new maps you’ll still need to opt-in by visiting http://www.google.com/maps/about/explore/. Once you have opted-in the maps will be available every time you access maps.google.com.

What do you think of the new maps? Do you think it’s an improvement on the old ones?
