Meet Jon Dykstra from

Of the many different reasons someone might want to start a blog, the most common is the goal of making money or tracking your growth progress in something.

This is something that we see very often in the world: "Make Money Bloggers" and "Affiliate Marketing". Since both platforms are based on making money online, it only makes sense to start a blog and document this process.

This is something very similar to what Jon Dykstra did at his location. Find out all about Jon and his blog in this latest edition of Meet the Bloggers.

1.) Please tell us something about yourself and how you got into blogging.

I've been publishing niche websites all day since early 2012. Despite ups and downs, my publishing business has grown steadily over the years.

I work in several very different niches. It's a business that I love and that I wouldn't do otherwise. Outside of my publishing business, I'm very happily married and have two young boys.

2.) What is the main focus of your blog and why did you choose this niche?

I publish several niche sites and each has its own focus. Unfortunately, I only reveal my niche websites with, the blog where I write about my activities as a niche website editor.'s focus is on sharing the tips, tricks, and strategies I use to build a niche publishing business.

3.) How are you currently monetizing your blog traffic?

I monetize each side differently. Some mostly with advertising. Some mostly with affiliate promotions. Some by selling digital products. Some with all three included.

4.) What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started blogging?

I wish I was a little more patient than I started. I would probably have a much bigger business. I used shortcuts and applied too many tactics in the beginning resulting in failed websites.

If I had focused on quality from day one, I would be further ahead. Quality is my mantra now … serving the audience.

5.) Which three blogs do you visit almost every day?

Three (3) websites I visit daily are,, and

6.) Can you give us three recommended tools / services that you use for your blogging?

Three (3) key tools I use are Jpegmini, Viraltag, and AWeber.

7.) What advice would you have for someone just starting their first blog?

My advice to someone starting out is to focus on quality, especially if they are going the blogging route. Serve your audience and give out the best information you can.

8.) What is the best advice or tip you have come across since starting blogging?

When I started my niche publishing, I focused on affiliate income. I ignored display ads. Then I discovered a man who was making a lot of money with AdSense.

I paid him for a consultation and he explained how much he made from display ads. That changed me and since then I've made well over a million dollars doing display ads.

While display ads are only part of my revenue mix, I now consider them a very important source of income and a very effective source of income.

9.) If you only had $ 100 to start a new blog, how would you use it?

If I had $ 100 I would pay for the hosting and get to work. There are plenty of free hosting providers and free blog sites out there to help you get started in the super cheap industry. I recommend checking them out before blogging.

10.) How can readers of the blog get in touch with you?

I can be reached via the contact form at
